Kickers are the red-headed stepchild of the NFL and fantasy football is no different. Still, a fantasy kicker can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing a critical game. Accuracy plays a huge part in kicker rankings, but the kicker's team is also very important. Obviously, a team that scores frequently creates an environment where a kicker can pile-up points.

Never, ever reach for a kicker in the early or middle rounds. Our recommendation is that you avoid drafting a kicker altogether (if your league allows it). It makes much more sense to draft an extra player at one of the skill positions (QB, RB, or WR) and wait until right before the season begins to drop your lowest-ranked skill player and pick up a kicker.

This strategy allows you to stockpile skill players during the volatile pre-season when injuries are rampant and depth chart battles aren't finalized. If you employ this strategy, you'll have more flexibility as the season approaches because you'll have more skill players to choose from when deciding who to drop when your kicker becomes required.
